SHAH ALAM, Feb 24 — The state government is ready to review its 2021 state budget allocation to balance it with the current situation involving people who are affected by Covid-19.

Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the move took into account the expected impact from the implementation of the movement control order (MCO) since March last year, which will be seen in the first quarter of the year.

“All states need to actually refer back to its focus on the budget in facing the challenges from the pandemic. The local industries also need to be developed to guarantee its capabilities,” he said.

Speaking at an online forum titled ‘Post-pandemic economy: Where is the direction?’ held virtually last night, Amirudin said the state government is focused on empowering the local industries to withstand the effects of the pandemic.

“We also created Selangor Cluster (Gugusan Selangor) in each district to ensure the state continues to move forward and stay balanced in all matters,” he said.

Selangor created nine main economic clusters to suit each district which includes high technology, aerospace and automotive industry.

It also covers maritime, services, ecotourism, aquaculture, urban economic agriculture and education.
