SHAH ALAM, Nov 19 — A total of 25 Indian entrepreneurs in the state had received business equipment assistance through the Selangor State Indian Entrepreneur Development Programme (Sitham).
State executive councillor for entrepreneur development Rodziah Ismail said the contribution is proof of the state government commitment in developing the economy of all races.
“Out of 175 successful applications, 25 have received business equipment assistance worth between RM5,000 to RM8,000.
"Due to encouraging response, the Sitham programme will be continued next year with an allocation of RM500,000," she told SelangorKini.
She said this after handing over sewing equipment to a single mother, Juliana Francis, 55, at Flat PKNS in Section 20, here yesterday.
Also present were Koperasi Wisma Kohijrah manager Mohammad Shukri Ismail, Taman Batu 3 Indian Community head Murugiah Munusamy and Rimba Jaya Indian Community head Rt Saravanan.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Shukri said the Sitham programme focuses on Indian entrepreneurs who are committed to expanding their business.
He said applicants from Kajang, Shah Alam, Kelana Jaya, Puchong, Ijok, Rawang and Sungai Tua have already received the assistance.
“Among the items given are sewing machines, side sewing machines, refrigerators and various other items to facilitate their business.
"Our goal is to help them boost their business and for them to help other individuals get employment opportunities," he said.
