AMPANG, July 27 — The Selangor government's healthy financial position has enabled the state administration to formulate an economic stimulus package to help those who were affected by the Covid-19 situation, says its Menteri Besar.
Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the state government's efforts to battle the crisis was backed by the remarkable potential of the state executive councillors, the Selangor's Covid-19 taskforce and all parties involved in ensuring the wellbeing of the public.
“Selangor has exceptional capabilities to address the impact of the Covid-19 situation by introducing various initiatives, compared to other states.
“This would not have been achievable without good governance,” said Amirudin during the PKR Information Convention held at the De Palma Hotel, here yesterday.
Amirudin said Selangor was also the first to set allocation for the Covid-19 community mass screening operation, which was also carried out via drive-through method.
“We also introduced the Covid-19 contact tracing system SELangkah (Langkah Masuk Dengan Selamat) that could also be used in other states,” he said.
On July 13, Amirudin had announced the state economic recovery plan, which is the third phase of Selangor’s economic stimulus package and a continuation of the Selangor Cares Package and Selangor Cares Package 2.0.
The recovery plan included three thrusts which namely covers food security, economic sustainability, and capacity building, with a total economic value of RM55.85 billion.
The state government had spent RM260,144,464.54 million to benefit 3.5 million people in Selangor through the two initial economic stimulus packages, out of the total allocation of RM413.9 million.
