SHAH ALAM, March 24 — Seventeen districts in the northern part of Peninsular Malaysia are now at Level One (alert) following a sustained rise in hot weather over the past few days.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) said the affected areas include several districts in Kedah, including Sik, Padang Terap, Kubang Pasu, Langkawi Island, Kuala Muda, Kulim and Bandar Baharu.
Other areas include the Northeast and Northern districts of Penang; Hulu Perak, Kinta and Kuala Kangsar in Perak; Jerantut and Raub in Pahang; as well as Kuala Lumpur.
The development reflects an increase in the number of affected areas due to the ongoing hot weather conditions.
In its latest update, three additional areas in Kedah: Pendang, Pokok Sena and Baling, have now reached Level Two (heatwave), with maximum temperatures ranging between 37°C and 40°C for at least three consecutive days.
In light of this, the public is advised to remain vigilant, reduce outdoor activities, and obtain the latest information through MetMalaysia's official channels.
