PWS logs RM1.51m in corporate cash wakaf during Ramadan

SHAH ALAM, March 18 — The Selangor Wakaf Corporation (PWS) has collected over RM1.51 million in special and corporate cash wakaf throughout Ramadan, said its chief executive officer Anuar Hamzah Tohar.

He said the contributions were from 16 entities including government agencies and private companies.

“This encompasses 10 cash wakaf contributors and six special wakaf contributors. Among the main contributors were local authorities including the Selayang Municipal Council (MPS), Shah Alam City Council (MBSA), Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ), Klang Royal City Council (MBDK), and Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ), with each having contributed RM50,000.

“Public Islamic Bank Bhd also contributed RM50,000, while Teraju Ekonomi Asnaf recorded the highest cash wakaf contribution of RM100,000,” he added.

Anuar said that for the special wakaf category, several corporate companies contributed large amounts, including Aidil Color Sdn Bhd, Azman Hamzah Plastic Sdn Bhd, and Industrial Quality Sdn Bhd, which each contributed RM300,000.

According to him, wakaf contributions collected throughout this Ramadan reflect the corporate sector’s high level of trust in wakaf as an instrument for welfare and ummah development.

“This commitment not only reflects the industry’s continuous support, but strengthens wakaf’s role as a sustainable, high-impact socio-economic development catalyst,” he explained.

He added that PWS will keep expanding efforts to draw more participants so wakaf benefits can be comprehensively channelled to needy communities and support the state’s development agenda.

“People are welcome to join Cash Wakaf via official platforms to ensure the continuity for the welfare and community development agenda,” he said.

Anuar added that each individual and company wakaf contribution is eligible for income tax exemption of up to 10 per cent from the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN).
