SHAH ALAM, Feb 24 — Media Selangor Sdn Bhd (MSSB) has been officially appointed as the chair of the Media, Broadcasting and Digital Sub-Committee for the 2026 Malaysia Games (SUKMA) and Para SUKMA, assuming primary responsibility for coordinating official communications for the nation's largest sporting event.
Its chief executive officer Mohamed Fareed Mohamed Ashaaree said the appointment reflects the state government’s confidence in the agency’s capability to manage strategic communications and broadcasting comprehensively.
“Alhamdulillah (God be praised), this morning it was officially announced that Media Selangor will chair the Media, Broadcasting, and Digital Sub-Committee for SUKMA.
“We will work closely with the Broadcasting Department, the Information Department, as well as corporate communications and public relations officers at the local authority and District and Land Office levels to ensure smooth coordination of communications,” he said.
Fareed was speaking to the media after attending the 22nd SUKMA and Selangor Para SUKMA Implementation Committee Meeting at the MBSA Convention Centre today.
He added that well-structured communication coordination is crucial to ensure that all announcements and official information regarding SUKMA 2026 are delivered professionally, accurately, and with high impact.
Alongside comprehensive coverage throughout SUKMA, Media Selangor will further strengthen publicity through social media, news portals, and print media to enhance reach and public engagement.
“So far, our social media reach has shown encouraging growth. InsyaAllah (God willing), we will continue to build on this momentum through broader content production and programme implementation in the lead-up to SUKMA,” Fareed said.
Early preparations, including obtaining the committee’s terms of reference (TOR), have begun to ensure more systematic communication planning and digital strategies.
“The next step is to liaise with national-level media organisations such as Astro, Media Prima, Bernama, and Radio Televisyen Malaysia so that coordination can be carried out more effectively,” he said.
Fareed emphasised that Media Selangor is committed to fulfilling its responsibilities with excellence to elevate the state's name at the national level by hosting SUKMA 2026.
