SHAH ALAM, Jan 31 — The Kuala Selangor Municipal Council (MPKS) cracked down on illegal dumping in Ijok yesterday, targeting two identified hotspot sites in a day-long enforcement operation.
MPKS said the operation, which ran from 8.30am to 3pm, involved 25 officers and personnel from its Enforcement Department as well as the Health and Environment Department.
According to MPKS, the operation focused on monitoring and enforcement at Lot 2717, Batu 22, Ijok, and Lot 17670, Harmoni, Ijok, which were identified as illegal dumping sites through continuous monitoring and public complaints.
"At the first location, we seized an excavator under the Refuse Collection, Removal and Disposal By-Laws (MPKS) 2007.
“The MPKS Health and Environment Department also issued one compound notice for the offence of illegal dumping,” it said in a statement today.
Meanwhile, at the second location, an excavator could not be seized as it was not operational, and no other illegal waste-handling equipment was found.
“Although no seizure could be made, a Notice Requiring the Removal of Nuisance was issued, along with a compound notice to ensure follow-up action is taken.
“Overall, the operation involved monitoring at two locations, the seizure of one machine, the issuance of two notices and four compound notices,” it said.
MPKS said stern action was taken to ensure the cleanliness of the affected areas, while curbing illegal dumping activities.
"We urge all parties to abide by the law and report any illegal dumping activities for the wellbeing of the Kuala Selangor district."
