MPHS receives ‘Pinnacle Award’ for excellence in Geographic Information System innovation

SHAH ALAM, Jan 24 — The Hulu Selangor Municipal Council (MPHS) received the ‘Pinnacle Award’ in conjunction with the Esri Malaysia GeoInnovation Award 2025 held recently at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC).

The prestigious event organised by Esri Malaysia brought together leaders from the public and private sectors to recognise organisations that excel in the use of Geographic Information System (GIS) technology.

The local council said the application of GIS technology plays an important role in enhancing governance, urban planning, and the delivery of public and private services.

“This recognition serves as a catalyst for MPHS to continue leveraging GIS technology to support the sustainable development agenda, promote sustainable urban planning and improve the quality of services to the local community,” the council said in a statement.

The award was presented by Esri South Asia Managing Director Leslie Wong and Esri Malaysia chief executive officer CS Tan, with MPHS represented by assistant secretary Shaiful Rizza Paiamin to receive the recognition.

Also present were MPHS Town Planning Department director Azlina Mokhtar, Information Technology Division head Mohamad Ramdan Ibrahim, Community Development Department head Nurulhuda Ahmad Khairuddin, as well as the MPHS GIS coordination team.

At the same event, MPHS was also invited to share its experience and knowledge in technology and GIS innovation. The presentation was delivered by Azlina, who highlighted MPHS best practices in implementing the Executive Information System (EIS) to support urban planning, municipal management and spatial data-based decision-making.
