SHAH ALAM, Jan 3 — Selangor continues to log successes in water supply management, with its latest achievement being no work stoppage at water treatment plants (WTPs) last year, thanks to the Raw Water Security Scheme (SJAM) launched in 2021.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the achievement proves the state government’s ability to ensure clean, stable water supply to the people, even when facing the risk of polluted raw water sources.

“There were no WTP work stoppages due to pollution, thanks to close monitoring, continuous enforcement, and quick action.

“Thank God, our success throughout 2025 proves the state government’s determination to manage Selangor in a prudent and stable manner, centred on the people’s interests,” he said in a Facebook post.

In an interview with Media Selangor in August, state Economic Planning Unit director Dato’ Johary Anuar said Phase 1 of the SJAM, which was completed in May last year, has successfully prevented water supply disruptions during three pollution incidents.

He said the pollution incidents on July 5, 15 and 28 were resolved owing to the readiness of SJAM’s four packages.

“Our ability to resolve these pollution incidents ensures consumers aren’t affected and continue to receive clean water without disruption,” he added.

Johary said this success is in line with the First Selangor Plan’s (RS-1) aim to ensure 24-hour water supply for residents and to demonstrate the efficiency of the state’s water management system even in events of pollution.
