PUTRAJAYA, Nov 27 — The Immigration Department is offering free replacements for Malaysian international passports that were lost or damaged in the floods.
Its director-general Datuk Zakaria Shaaban said this is intended to ease the burden of affected victims and ensure their travel needs and official matters can proceed without disruption.
“Victims whose passports are lost or damaged due to the floods may apply for a replacement passport free of charge at any nearby Immigration office.
“It is hoped that this initiative will help reduce the burden faced by flood victims and assist them in resuming their daily affairs more easily and in an organised manner,” he said in a statement tonight.
Zakaria added that, for passport replacement, affected individuals must ensure their passports are still valid with at least six months’ validity remaining.
Affected individuals must also bring their identity card, the original passport (if still in their possession), submit a copy of the police report (for a lost passport), and provide a flood disaster verification report from the Fire and Rescue Department or their relevant local authority.

He said the Immigration Department remains committed to delivering the best service and ensuring the welfare of the people remains a priority.
