Flood-affected higher learning institutions given flexibility to conduct online classes

PUTRAJAYA, Nov 24 — The Higher Education Ministry (MOHE) has given flood-affected higher learning institutions the flexibility to conduct online teaching and learning (PdP) to ensure uninterrupted educational delivery.

It has closely monitored the flood situation in several states on the east coast and northern Peninsular Malaysia following continuous heavy rains.

The current floods have affected not only urban and residential areas but also several higher learning institutions, disrupting campus operations and PdP implementation.

“At the same time, flood operations rooms at the affected IPTs have been activated to provide students, staff and parents with up-to-date information on the situation, as well as immediate assistance, including food, temporary shelter and essential supplies,” the MOHE said in a statement today.

It urged all staff at higher learning institutions affected by the floods to prioritise their personal safety, remain in safe areas, and follow the instructions of the authorities and security personnel.
