KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 15 — Selangor FC have been punished with playing behind closed doors following a ‘heated’ incident involving fan behaviour in the second leg of the 2025-26 FA Cup quarter-final against Negeri Sembilan FC at Petaling Jaya City Council Stadium, Kelana Jaya, on October 29.
Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) disciplinary committee chairman Datuk Baljit Singh Sidhu said the ‘Red Giants’ will play to an empty stadium for the second leg of this season’s FA Cup semi-final against Sabah FC on November 30 and their first home match for the same competition next season.
Baljit said Selangor, who advanced to the semi-finals this season with a 6-3 aggregate result, were also fined RM100,000 for repeated offences under Article 42, Paragraph 1 of the FAM Disciplinary Code.
“Selangor FC has also been given a stern warning, and a heavier punishment will be imposed if the same offence is repeated. This decision can be appealed,” he said in a statement today.
He said the five-time champion was found guilty of violating Article 70, Paragraph 1 and Paragraph 3 of the FAM Disciplinary Code for charges 1, 2, 3 and 4 and of violating Article 68 of the FAM Disciplinary Code read together with Article 69 of the FAM Disciplinary Code for charge 5.
According to charge 1, Baljit said Selangor supporters had set off firecrackers and it was estimated that two firecracker explosions were seen and heard, which were thrown towards the seats of the Negeri Sembilan supporters.
He said for charge 2, the home supporters had damaged and thrown benches in the stands of the spectators and thrown water bottles towards the seats of the Negeri Sembilan supporters, which had caused injuries to two opposing supporters.
“Charge 3, during the match, a VVIP from Selangor FC threw a plastic container filled with water towards the family of the Negeri Sembilan FC players.
“Charge 4, during the match, Selangor FC supporters committed provocations which resulted in a commotion between the two supporters in the supporters’ seat,” he said.
He said, Selangor were found to have failed to comply with its obligations in organising the match as contained in charge 5, including complying with and implementing existing safety laws, including those from the International Football Association Board, as well as ensuring that local authorities were informed and cooperated with them actively and effectively.
