SEPANG, Oct 25 — Malaysian rider Hakim Danish Ramli’s desire to start in the front row of the Malaysian MotoGP Grand Prix Moto3 class championship fell short after he finished Qualifying Session 2 in 14th place at the Sepang International Circuit today.
The 18-year-old rider was competing on a wildcard ticket for the Aeon Credit SIC Racing team, which previously achieved sixth in Free Practice Session 2 with a time of 2:10.576s, but logged a weaker 2:11.487s.
Leopard Racing rider David Almansa took first with 2:09.846s, followed by Honda Team Asia rider Taiyo Furusato with 2:09.940s.
Meanwhile, 2025 season champion Jose Antonio Rueda, representing Red Bull KTM Ajo, was in third place (2:10.076s).
Hakim Danish admitted he made a few mistakes and almost crashed during the qualifying session, but is determined to do his best in tomorrow’s race, and said it was more challenging than the JuniorGP and Red Bull Rookies Cup.
“In the qualifying session earlier, I made a few mistakes and almost crashed, but I was able to handle it well. I am trying to improve my position and time.
“Tomorrow’s race will definitely be difficult, but I will still give it a shot,” he told reporters after today’s qualifying session.
Meanwhile, two national wildcard riders in the Moto2 class, Azroy Hakeem Anuar and Muhammad Helmi Azman from Petronas MIE Racing RW, will start the race in 29th and last place, respectively.
