KOTA BHARU, Oct 1 — The seven-year-old boy who was seriously injured after he was struck with a hammer by his uncle on Thursday (September 25) died at 3.02pm today, after a week of battling for his life.
Muhammad Ammar Muhamad Badrul died at the Universiti Sains Malaysia Specialist Hospital (HPUSM) in Kubang Kerian.
His father Muhammad Badrul Remli, 31, said that since his son’s heart stopped beating for 14 minutes yesterday morning, the family had not left his bedside at the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
“Until today, he was on life support, but Allah loves him more, and Ammar left us today,” he told Bernama.
Badrul added that the family had not stopped reciting Surah Yasin and had performed solat hajat throughout Ammar’s treatment, and they have now accepted his passing.
After his son’s passing, he posted a WhatsApp status that read: “Assalamualaikum, my son Muhammad Ammar has returned to his Creator. Let us all recite the Al-Fatihah for him.”
Badrul also expressed gratitude to the public for their prayers during the week-long treatment following the tragic incident.
Ammar remains will be laid to rest at the Kampung Mujor Muslim Cemetery in Jelawat, Bachok tonight.
On Thursday, a man suspected of severely injuring his nephew with a hammer at a shoplot in Jelawat was found dead near Pantai Melawi, Bachok.
The 46-year-old was found hanging from a casuarina tree, about three kilometres from the shoplot.
The police subsequently arrested a 36-year-old woman, the boy’s aunt, to assist in the investigation under Section 326 of the Penal Code and Section 31(1) of the Child Act 2001.
