SHAH ALAM, Aug 14 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has assured that the Cabinet remains stable and united despite the recent resignations of Pandan MP Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli and Setiawangsa MP Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad from their ministerial posts.
In a written parliamentary reply to Arau MP Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim, Anwar said both resignations were made on personal grounds in line with the individuals’ principles, and that the government respects their decisions.
“The Madani government remains strong with the unwavering support of all component parties. Close cooperation and mutual respect among these parties form the foundation for the continuity of national governance and the implementation of the reform agenda,” he said.
Anwar expressed confidence that both lawmakers will continue to play an active role in Parliament, contributing to the well-being of the people and the country’s progress.
Shahidan had asked how the government planned to maintain Cabinet stability following the resignations, whether the administration’s name would change after the perceived split, and if the term “unity government” was still relevant.
Both Rafizi and Nik Nazmi announced their resignation in May after failing to defend their Parti Keadilan Rakyat deputy presidency and vice-presidency, respectively, in the party’s recent elections.
