Autogate system for foreign visitors resumes in stages

PUTRAJAYA, July 20 — The Autogate system for foreign visitors that suffered disruptions since Friday has resumed operations in stages at 6pm yesterday .

The Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) said the situation at major entry points were under control and mitigation measures will continue to ensure the smooth flow of foreign visitors.

Repair work and system stabilisation are still being carried out to ensure that it returns to operation at optimum capacity.

“The AKPS will continue to ensure that the system is restored to ensure the daily operation of visitors entering and leaving the country is under control and safe,” the agency said in a statement last night.

The agency had confirmed earlier yesterday that the issue was caused by disruption in data integration that resulted in the crosschecking process in the MyIMMS system to slow down.

The disruption caused congestion and long waiting times at several major entry points, including the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1 and 2, as well as the Customs, Immigration and Quarantine Complexes at Sultan Iskandar Building and Sultan Abu Bakar Complex in Johor.
