SHAH ALAM, July 9 — MyKiosks in non-strategic areas or have not received good response in Selangor will be relocated.

State executive councillor for local government and tourism Dato’ Ng Suee Lim said he has instructed all 12 local authorities to conduct inspections and ensure the kiosks are properly located and arranged in an orderly manner.

“After three months, if the location is deemed unsuitable, or if the kiosks remain unoccupied and poorly received, they must be relocated.

“That’s the advantage of the MyKiosks, they’re movable. I only ask that elected representatives provide suggestions to me or the local councils," he told the Selangor State Legislative Assembly here today.

Ng said that as implementing agencies, local councils must identify suitable locations for the kiosks and ensure their operations adhere to guidelines.

He was responding to a question from Taman Medan assemblyman Dr Afif Bahardin about efforts by the state to address the unoccupied MyKiosk stalls, their placements in unsuitable or unsafe locations, and the high deposits involved.

Ng said a deposit of between RM2,000 and RM3,000 is required to ensure traders maintain their stalls, but the state government is open to reviewing the amount if it is too high.

He added that to date, 1,028 MyKiosks have been installed in Selangor, at a total cost of RM20.33 million. Of this, RM19.5 million was allocated by KPKT, while the remaining RM822,211 was borne by local councils.

Depending on the location, he said each MyKiosk costs an average of RM19,785.80.

The MyKiosk is an initiative under the Housing and Local Government Ministry in collaboration with state governments to provide street vendors with suitable trading spaces.
