SHAH ALAM, June 3 — Selangor’s raw water supply is sufficient for the hot weather season and the northeast monsoon, set to last till September.
State executive councillor for infrastructure and agriculture Dato’ Izham Hashim said all seven of the state’s main dams are at over 90 per cent capacity, including Raw Water Security Scheme (SJAM) sources.
“All dams are at a good capacity, over 90 per cent. God willing, there’s no supply problems even during this drought,” he told Media Selangor.
Last month, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said he was confident SJAM can resolve 99 per cent of issues to handle water pollution and the drought in Selangor.
The SJAM encompasses several main packages, including the HORAS 600 pumphouse, Rantau Panjang pumphouse, and the Semenyih pond pumphouse.
Last week, Meteorological Department director Mohd Hisham Mohd Anip said the northeast monsoon, which began May 10, is set to last till mid-September.
Selangor’s seven main dams are:
- Sungai Selangor Dam (Hulu Selangor)
- Sungai Tinggi Dam (Hulu Selangor)
- Tasik Subang Dam (Petaling)
- Sungai Langat Dam (Hulu Langat)
- Semenyih Dam (Hulu Langat)
- Klang Gates Dam (Gombak)
- Batu Dam (Gombak)
