Rafizi touched by support, pledges to remain despite Keadilan loss

JOHOR BAHRU, May 24 — Former Parti Keadilan Rakyat deputy president Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli said he has no intention of giving up on his political ideals despite losing the race for the party’s number two position in the 2025-2028 leadership election.

“Thank you for the hundreds of messages of support I received. Thank you also to those who prayed for me. I was deeply moved when several young party members cried as I left the hall, pleading with me not to leave Keadilan.

“I have no intention of giving up or abandoning the ideals we have upheld all this while, that Malaysia deserves something better,” he said in a Facebook post today.

Rafizi, who is the Economy Minister and Pandan MP, also acknowledged the disappointment felt by grassroots members, urging them to find strength in the bigger picture.

“I understand the despair among many Keadilan members and supporters. It will take time to recover from the feeling that years of effort and dedication to Keadilan's ideals have gone to waste,” he said.

In the election, Rafizi, who had served as deputy president since 2022, lost to Nurul Izzah Anwar, who garnered 9,803 votes compared to his 3,866.
