GOMBAK, May 4 — Selangor Islamic Religious Council (Mais) has allocated RM300,000 to help former GISB Holdings Sdn Bhd members begin again.

Mais chairman Dato’ Seri Salehuddin Saidin said the funds will help them find work and earn a living.

“Mais did not block their economic activities, but as GISBH teachings deviated from true faith, the group’s businesses were affected as well.

“However, we won’t let them remain unemployed. Mais, through the Selangor Muslims’ Infak Jariah Fund, has earmarked RM300,000 as early aid,” he said.

Salehuddin was speaking at a meet-and-greet with ex-GISBH members, who are also participants of Mais’ Insan Rabbani rehabilitation programme, at SRA Bandar Country Homes, Rawang, here today.

He added that the council will collaborate with several agencies and companies to help ex-GISBH members find jobs based on their qualifications.

“So far, five people have found employment at the Gardenia factory, while 11 have approved business capital applications from the baitulmal.

“We are doing these in stages as we can’t afford to do it in one fell swoop, but Mais remains attentive (to their plight) and will ensure ex-GISBH members find jobs to sustain their future,” he said.
