SHAH ALAM, May 3 — The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) raided 35 business premises under Op Gasak to combat the abuse of cooking gas subsidies in seven districts in Selangor on Thursday (May 1) and Friday (May 2).
Selangor KPDN Director Mohd Zuhairi Mat Radey said that in the operations in Shah Alam, Petaling Jaya, Gombak, Kajang, Sepang, Kuala Kubu Baharu, and Kuala Selangor, they recorded four cases involving seizures of 90 units of cooking gas (LPG) cylinders with a total value estimated at RM8,000.
The operation focused on poultry companies, cooking gas suppliers, laundry businesses, and restaurants.
"The cases were recorded for offenses under Regulations 18(1) and 21(1) of the Control of Supplies Regulations 1974, with the investigation also conducted under the Control of Supplies Act 1961,” he said in a statement today.
Zuhairi added that Op Gasak 2025 was part of the 'Kita Gempur' initiative launched by KPDN to combat the issue of manipulation in business activities and leakage involving controlled goods and subsidised controlled goods.
The Selangor KPDN will continue to intensify enforcement through a targeted, data-based approach, as well as consumer and trader education-oriented.
“This includes increasing the public’s awareness and participation so that they become more informed, responsible, and protected consumers,” he said.
