Visit Malaysia 2026 roadshow makes waves in Indonesia

JAKARTA, April 15 — Tourism Malaysia is conducting a week-long roadshow across four major Indonesian cities — Medan, Yogyakarta, Jakarta and Surabaya — to boost interest ahead of the Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) campaign.

Running until Friday, the initiative involves 35 Malaysian tourism operators, including travel agencies, hotels, resorts, product owners, and representatives from the Malaysia My Second Home programme.

Speaking at its Tourism Promotion Mission to Indonesia here today, Tourism Malaysia deputy chairman Datuk Yeoh Soon Hin said the roadshow aims to attract high-spending tourists and enhance Malaysia’s position as a top global travel destination.

“This strategic initiative supports the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign and the Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle Visit Year 2023-2025, promoting regional cooperation between Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand,” he said.

Indonesia remains a key market for Malaysia, consistently ranking among the top five countries in visitor arrivals, he said, while emphasising the importance of leveraging Malaysia’s Asean chairmanship in 2025 to strengthen tourism ties.

Tourism Malaysia offices in Jakarta and Medan will also step up promotions with events such as the VM2026 Roadshow and Travel Exchange in Cirebon and Semarang (May 6 to 8), Makassar and Balikpapan (August 19 to 21), and the Malaysia Travel Fair (September 25 to 28).

Meanwhile, Malaysia’s Ambassador to Indonesia Datuk Syed Mohamad Hasrin Tengku Hussin described bilateral relations as excellent across government, economic and cultural exchanges, expressing hope that the initiative would deepen people-to-people connections.

He encouraged Indonesian travellers to explore not only well-known destinations like Johor, Penang and Melaka, but also unique gems such as Sabah, Sarawak, Kelantan, Perak and Terengganu.

“Whether for family holidays, medical tourism, education or relaxation, Malaysia has something for everyone,” he added.
