SUBANG JAYA, April 11 — Victims of the Putra Heights gas pipeline fire who feel sidelined or have not received any assistance are urged to immediately contact the Petaling District and Land Office (PDT).

Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said the state government has already listed all eligible aid recipients, including conducting cross-checks with the relevant authorities.

“If there are individuals who believe they are eligible but feel left out, they may refer to the Petaling PDT so we can carry out further cross-checks. As of now, we have conducted thorough verifications," he said.

Amirudin was speaking to the press after handing over cash aid to 265 affected students at the temporary relief centre in Masjid Putra Heights today.

Meanwhile, he said the state government will slightly ease security controls starting this Monday (April 14) to allow for home repair work to proceed.

The primary security focus remains at the ‘ground zero’ area, which involves soil stabilisation works and technical investigations.

“By Monday, we may ease security slightly. We are concerned about potential opportunistic activity or theft. After this, we will allow homeowners with minor damage to return to their properties,” Amirudin said.

The explosion, which occurred at around 8.10am on the second day of Hari Raya Aidilfitri (April 1) sent flames more than 30 metres into the sky. Temperatures reportedly reached up to 1,000°C, and the fire took nearly eight hours to be fully extinguished.

The incident resulted in the complete destruction of 81 houses with structural damage exceeding 40 per cent, while another 81 were partially destroyed.

Fifty-seven homes sustained damage without catching fire, and 218 homes remained unaffected.
