Fahmi retains Lembah Pantai Keadilan division chief post

KUALA LUMPUR, March 17 — Parti Keadilan Rakyat Information chief Datuk Fahmi Fadzil will retain uncontested the post of Lembah Pantai Keadilan division chief at the party elections next month.

The Communications Minister cum Lembah Pantai MP said that as of the nomination deadline at midnight yesterday, no candidates had submitted nominations to contest the position, which he first won in the 2018 Keadilan election.

“Alhamdulillah, there is no contest for the division chief post in Lembah Pantai, as well as in three other areas in the Federal Territories, namely Bandar Tun Razak, Putrajaya, and Labuan,” he said.

Fahmi was speaking to the press after attending the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission’s Advocacy Campaign at the Wangsa Maju Ramadan bazaar today.

When asked about some divisions receiving up to seven nominations for the division chief post, he said this is part of democracy, which allows any eligible individual to contest for party positions.

“What matters most, whether at the division or central level, is to compete in a healthy manner, avoid engaging in prohibited activities or breaking the law, and uphold the spirit of camaraderie and brotherhood,” Fahmi said.

Yesterday, he announced that he would be contesting for the Keadilan vice-president post in the elections in May.

Keadilan has scheduled the elections for its Central Leadership Council, Women’s Central Leadership, and Central Youth Wing for May 24.

Meanwhile, the Division, Women’s Division, and Youth Wing Division leadership elections will be held from April 11 to April 20.
