SHAH ALAM, Jan 5 — KDEB Waste Management Sdn Bhd (KDEBWM) aims to strengthen its services in the circular economy sector this year.

Its managing director Dato’ Ramli Mohd Tahir said that the focus not only generates new resources but also reduces reliance on landfills while encouraging recycling efforts.

“The efforts do not only address waste management issues but also create new job opportunities based on resource recovery and energy generation, contributing to the state’s economic value.

“The approach also benefits the environment, paving the way for a sustainable future for the next generation,” he told Media Selangor.

Meanwhile, Ramli stated that KDEBWM will continue to improve the quality of its services to meet the needs of all stakeholders.

In October 2023, Menteri Besar Dato’ Amirudin Shari officiated the groundbreaking ceremony for the waste-to-energy (WTE) plant in Jeram, Kuala Selangor, which is set to become the country’s largest waste management facility.

Amirudin said that the facility, spanning 30 acres and expected to begin operations in 2026, will process 3,000 tonnes of solid waste daily.

He said this will not only support environmental conservation but also stimulate greater economic opportunities.
