HULU SELANGOR, Oct 8 — The standard operating procedure (SOP) for slope management statewide is set to be completed by December, comprising two components.

State executive councillor for infrastructure and agriculture Izham Hashim said the SOP, prepared by the Minerals and Geosciences Department, will be implemented in all districts.

“The first component is a risk map … We do not know which slopes are at risk and will collapse, that is why there needs to be mapping. The second component is the management method led by the Works Department and Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ).

“The SOP will be for areas at medium and high risk, though so far, there are three areas with frequent landslides — Hulu Selangor, Gombak, and Hulu Langat,” said Izham during a visit to the Tenaga Nasional Bhd 500kV conveyor line project site from the Tapah transmission main intake to Bentong South, through Hulu Selangor, today.

In July, he said a report on slopes at risk of collapse was sent to the Kajang Municipal Council, Subang Jaya City Council, Sepang Municipal Council, Hulu Selangor Municipal Council, and MPAJ for further action.
