GM Klang gives back to community through Earth Warriors Day clean-up

KLANG, Sept 28 — GM Klang Wholesale Centre took the initiative to contribute to community welfare and environmental sustainability through the Earth Warriors Day programme in conjunction with Malaysia Clean-Up Day 2024 today.

Its brand communication senior manager Norsuhaida Othman said the initiative is part of its corporate social responsibility programme which involves picking up litter in the areas surrounding the wholesale centre and nearby businesses.

It was conducted in collaboration with the Klang Royal City Council and the Earth Warriors Association, and is one of the ways the company contributes to the community while also preserving the environment.

"With a team of about 60 individuals, including the GM Klang community and management, and with support from the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT), we are also participating in the Nationwide Mega Cleaning Programme, which is taking place simultaneously today.

"As a corporate entity, we are conscious of environmental cleanliness. At GM Klang we ensure that not only the indoor facilities are clean and comfortable but also the external environment," she said during an interview after the event today.

Among the activities today was a one-hour clean-up of selected areas, with the collected rubbish weighed by KPKT before being disposed of in the provided roll-on/roll-off bins.

To further enhance the cleaning event, GM Klang also organised a group photography competition and a lucky draw with attractive prizes.

Yesterday, Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming officiated the pre-launch of the Malaysia Clean-Up Day: Mega Cleaning Programme in conjunction with World Clean-up Day 2024 at the Recycling Innovation Facility in Precinct 5, Putrajaya.
