SHAH ALAM, Sept 4 — The Section 7 lake here will be temporarily closed daily from 8pm to 7am to allow the Selangor Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan) to conduct an operation to capture a crocodile that was spotted in the area.

The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) said the closure will take effect until the successful capture of the reptile.

“This temporary closure will affect recreational activities around the Section 7 lake in, such as jogging.

“Fishing activities are strictly prohibited during this period. This measure is implemented to ensure a quieter environment during the operation and to safeguard public safety, preventing any unwanted incidents.

“Meanwhile, food stalls will be allowed to operate as usual, with business hours concluding at 7pm,” its Corporate and Public Relations Department said in a statement today.

MBSA has set up nets at five waterways around the lake to prevent the crocodile from escaping, while Selangor Perhilitan has installed two traps to help with the operation.

“The public is advised to remain cautious when in the lake’s vicinity until the operation is concluded,” it added.

Yesterday, MBSA issued a notice urging the public to be careful when around the Section 7 lake, following reports of the crocodile sighting.

Later, it cordoned off certain portions of the lake and said the authorities were monitoring the area.
