SHAH ALAM, July 17 — High cholesterol and high blood sugar were among the most prevalent symptoms detected through the Selangor Saring programme.

State executive councillor for public health and environment Jamaliah Jamaluddin said the symptoms were found in nearly half of the 4,938 participants of the free health screening service up to July.

“Follow-up consultations at panel clinics revealed high blood cholesterol and high urine sugar levels were among the most prevalent health issues.

“These are factors for diabetes, chronic kidney disease, and heart attack,” she told Media Selangor.

Jamaliah said results of the Selangor Saring screenings were sent via the SELangkah app, with participants advised to attend follow-up checkups at nearby panel clinics.

Selangor Saring, held under Iltizam Selangor Penyayang, offers free checks for blood pressure, urine and sugar levels in all state constituencies.

In Selangor’s Budget 2024, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari announced an allocation of RM3.2 million to fund the free health screening scheme this year.
