KUALA LUMPUR, July 5 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has congratulated Keir Starmer and the Labour Party on their sweeping victory in Britain's general election.
Anwar, who is also Finance Minister, said he looks forward to working with Starmer and his team to develop a strategic relationship built on inclusivity, equality, respect, people-to-people connection and a shared vision for the future.
“Britain’s participation in the CPTPP (Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for the Trans-Pacific Partnership) broadens horizons for our economic partnership.
“The Five Power Defence Arrangements serve as a cornerstone for our mutual security, enhancing regional stability and fostering closer defence cooperation,” Anwar said in a Facebook post.
With 467 of the British Parliament’s 650 seats declared, Labour has won 326, Sky News said early today.
