SHAH ALAM, April 17 — Two relief centres (PPS) have been opened in Selangor to accommodate flood victims following heavy rain in the state yesterday, causing some areas in Sungai Buloh and Subang, near here, to be flooded.

Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department Selangor assistant director (operations) Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar said the PPS are at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Merbau Sempak and the Kuala Selangor District Council Hall Desa Coalfields to provide shelter for 374 victims from 88 families.

The department also opened a control post at the PPS at SK Merbau Sempak, he said in a notification via WhatsApp here today.

Meanwhile, in Seremban, a PPS was opened at the Permatang Pasir Community Hall in Port Dickson early today following flash floods in the district.

According to a statement issued by the Negeri Sembilan Disaster Management Committee of the Malaysian Civil Defence Force, the PPS was opened at 4.08 am and accommodated 46 victims from two families.

"Several rivers recorded readings at alert and dangerous levels as of 7 am today, namely Sungai Linggi and Sungai Triang in Jelebu," it said.
