SHAH ALAM, March 26 — The Menteri Besar’s Office has donated RM99,000 to support 24 youth and student associations and nine district youth councils.

Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said each association receives a fund of RM3,000, with the goal of motivating its members to take a more proactive role in organising a range of programmes.

The Menteri Besar also emphasised the importance of students and the younger generation stepping up and fulfilling their responsibilities as future leaders to the best of their abilities.

“Your duties and roles are important, made the more so in light of the various challenges that different generations and groups confront today.

“Our present-day challenges are greater as we face political uncertainties, where the majority of the younger generation seem less confident about their future.

“As the future leaders, you must set trends rather than follow them. It’s not about which group should win and be trusted, but it is our responsibility to instil confidence in today’s youths and teach them about their future,” said Amirudin when officiating the breaking of fast event with Selangor youth and student leaders, here yesterday.

Held at the Menteri Besar’s official residence, the annual programme was attended by about 400 youth and student leaders from Selangor.

Also present were state executive councillor for youth, sports and entrepreneurship Najwan Halimi, Selangor State Youth Council president Dato’ Mohd Imran Tamrin, and Selangor State Sports Council (MSNS) executive director Mohamad Nizam Marjugi.

Amirudin also had the chance to meet with the guests and perform the congregational Maghrib prayers together.
