KLANG, Dec 3 — Port Klang state assemblyman Azmizam Zaman Huri has urged the public and corporate companies to continue contributing as a sign of solidarity with Palestine.
He said donations made via legitimate non-governmental organisations (NGOs) help alleviate the people's suffering due to the conflicts in the Gaza Strip.
"At my state constituency service centre, I have also initiated efforts in mosques and suraus in the area to collect public donations, which will then be channelled to the appropriate authorities.
"However, I hope more capable companies out there will come forward to show sympathy and solidarity with the people of Palestine by organising programmes like charity sales," Azmizam said.
He was speaking during the presentation of cat food brand Misha's RM20,000 donation to the Humanitarian Trust Fund for the People of Palestine (AAKRP), at Menara Misha yesterday.
The company made the donation to the fund, under the Foreign Affairs Ministry and the Gaza Emergency Fund through Humanitarian Care Malaysia (MyCARE).
Its marketing executive Nor Asmiza Arifin said they are contributing 100 per cent of the profits to the fund from a charity sales campaign which ran from November 18 to yesterday.
"Through this campaign, we conducted live sales on TikTok and through online purchases. Wholesale purchases by cat care and protection centres helped us achieve our donation target.
"It is a sign of our solidarity with the Palestinian people," she said.
