Four areas record unhealthy API levels as of 9am

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 18 — Four areas in the peninsula recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as of 9am today, with Klang recording the highest reading of 155.

According to the Department of Environment Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) website, other areas with an API of above 100 are Seri Manjung in with an API reading of 123, Tangkak in Johor with an API reading of 119 and Petaling Jaya in  Selangor with an API reading of 107.

A total of 54 areas recorded moderate API levels, while 10 other areas had good readings.

An API reading of between zero and 50 indicates the air quality is good, a reading of between 51 and 100, indicates the air quality is moderate, a reading of between 01 and 200 indicates unhealthy air quality, a reading of between 201 and 300 is very unhealthy and a reading above 300 indicates the air quality is hazardous.

The API data is released every hour, based on the readings at 68 air quality monitoring stations nationwide.
