Sg Langat WTP works continue despite hiccup — Air Selangor

SHAH ALAM, Oct 10 — The ongoing upgrading, maintenance and replacement work on the Sungai Langat Water Treatment Plant (WTP) continue following a slight delay on site.

Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd said the works are expected to be completed at 9pm onwards tonight.

"The delay in work implementation will not affect the full water supply recovery to the affected consumers in the Petaling, Kuala Lumpur, Hulu Langat regions. Water will be distributed in stages to the consumers once the supply distribution system stabilises.

"The duration of the water supply recovery in the affected areas will vary depending on the location and distance of consumers’ premises. Water supply is still expected to fully recover by 12pm on Thursday (October 12)," it said in a statement tonight.

Similarly, on the latest status of the water supply disruption due to the temporary shutdown of four WTPs following an odour pollution incident at Sungai Selangor, Air Selangor said they have all commenced operations again.

"After the temporary shutdown of the Sungai Selangor Phase One (SSP1), Sungai Selangor Phase Two (SSP2), Sungai Selangor Phase Three (SSP3), and Rantau Panjang WTPs, they are now supplying clean and safe treated water in stages to consumers.

"As of 7pm, the water supply's recovery status in the affected areas has reached 24.5 per cent. It is still expected to fully recover by 12am on Thursday. We would like to advise consumers who have and will receive their water supply to let the tap flow until it is clear before using," it said.

Air Selangor hopes consumers who have received their water supply will use it prudently to ensure the recovery process in the affected areas run smoothly.
