Negeri Sembilan state assembly condemns Israeli attacks against Palestine

SEREMBAN, Oct 10 — The Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly unanimously approved an emergency motion today to condemn the cruel actions of the Israeli regime which triggered the recent unrest in Palestine.

While proposing the motion, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin urged state assemblymen to strongly condemn Israel's actions and violence, which violated international laws and human rights, including desecrating the sanctity of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

"Indeed, the world is deeply concerned about the recent developments in the conflict in the Gaza Strip, which threaten the safety and security of the Palestinian people. Therefore, we urge the United Nations' Council to demand international communities take responsibility and immediate action to address this crisis.

"Urgent global pressure is required to stop any actions which violate laws and human rights like these. Everyone should respect the rights and sovereignty of the Palestinian people on their own land," he said.

Based on this principle, Aminuddin encouraged all representatives to deliver immediate humanitarian aid and endorse trust funds for collecting public and private donations to assist the Palestinian people.

He said for this purpose, funds in all Negeri Sembilan mosques would be mobilised for a month, while solat hajat for the well-being of the Palestinian people will also be continued.

Aminuddin also suggested this Friday's (October 13) sermon be related to Palestine.

Meanwhile, when debating the motion, Pertang state assemblyman Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias said both the government and the Opposition should set aside any differences to address the humanitarian issue.

He said the cruel and brutal actions suffered by the Palestinian people were unforgivable, adding that the continuous attacks on Gaza must be protested.

"The humanitarian aid mission must be initiated immediately, showing Malaysia's commitment to supporting the Palestinian cause. We must unite to support any non-governmental organisation (NGO) involved in this mission," Jalaluddin added.

Similarly, Rantau state assemblyman Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan urged the public not to misunderstand this matter, stressing it was not a religious issue but a humanitarian concern which needs attention.

"This humanitarian issue has been going on for 78 years. The Palestinians are oppressed, their country is occupied, and they are forced out of their homeland without defence. We cannot label them terrorists; they just want to reclaim their homeland.

"So, the motion brought forth today is highly relevant. We must make a decision and pass a resolution strongly condemning the actions of the Zionists," he said.
