KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 9 — Sepaktakraw Association of Malaysia (PSM) Chief Umpire Fadzil Hashim is alleged to have committed five infringements of the constitution and code of ethics of the Asian Sepaktakraw Federation (Astaf).
Based on the show cause letter issued to him by Astaf, dated yesterday, for the first infringement, Fadzil is alleged to have assigned an umpire who was unfamiliar with the rules of the game because no review of the umpire was done before the national tournament took place.
For the second infringement, he is alleged to have disrespected the Astaf umpire, who was assigned as a line umpire, while a non-Astaf umpire was responsible for the main umpire.
Fadzil is also alleged to have failed to follow the procedures of the International Sepaktakraw Federation (Istaf) and Astaf when decisions regarding the Challenge Calls were given to the jury.
"Fourthly, prohibiting Astaf umpires from using and wearing Astaf and/or Istaf badges while serving at national-level competitions.
"You (Fadzil) have also not worn the Istaf badge since the first day of the Sepak Takraw League (STL) from the first week (May 26 to May 28, 2023) to the eighth week (July 20 to July 23, 2023) and August 5, 2023," stated the letter.
Therefore, Astaf asked Fadzil to answer in writing about all the allegations against him within ten days starting today. If he fails to do so, he will face disciplinary action.
