SHAH ALAM, June 16 — The redevelopment of Ampang Lookout Point (Alop) is set to inspire further evolution of the state's ecotourism industry at the international level.
Selangor executive councillor for tourism Hee Loy Sian said three more attractions — Sungai Chongkak, Hulu Langat and Kanching Eco Forest Park, Rawang — are also set for development, in a bid to draw more visitors, particularly foreign tourists.
"Alop is just the beginning. Moving forward, we will also build a five-star chalet and glamping (short for glamorous camping) site at Sungai Chongkak and the Eco Forest waterfall.
"This proposal has been tabled in the Selangor Economic Action Council meeting and we are now waiting for approval. Hopefully, this will be done in the next two months," he said.
Hee said this during the handing over ceremony of the development rights of Alop as a state forest excellence center to Pearl Holiday Travel & Tour Sdn Bhd.
Commenting further, the executive councillor said all three aforementioned locations would not involve rapid developments to ensure sustainability of the environment can be maintained.
"We have plenty of interesting tourist spots. The only problem is facilities like accommodation and toilets are not attractive to the public.
"So, we will be focusing on these facilities, and Selangor will continue its efforts to develop our tourism products."
