SHAH ALAM, June 7 — Some four million individuals from Selangor have benefitted from the state's Jelajah Ehsan Rakyat (JER) initiative, which offers goods at affordable prices.

This is according to Agro-based Industry Committee chairman Izham Hashim, who said the state government has allocated RM10 million to date to ensure the programme's success.

"Selangor is the only state government that organises an intervention programme for basic goods in all districts since last year,” he said in a Facebook post yesterday.

"The programme, which is under the purview of the agriculture portfolio, has proven to have a big impact on the rakyat, particularly the B40 group.”

Izham noted that under JER, the public are able to enjoy savings of up to 30 per cent on basic necessities, including rice, egg, chicken, beef, fish and oil.

The programme, which was introduced at the end of last year, will be carried out until September 1, with the cooperation of the Domestic Trade and Cost Of Living Ministry.

Previously on May 31, Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said the public is expected to save approximately RM18 million in total through JER.

He added that to date, the programme has recorded about RM37 million in sales since it was introduced.
