SHAH ALAM, April 29 — Residents of Kampung Koskan Tambahan in Serendah, Batang Kali, who were served with a notice to vacate their homes last Saturday, may be offered Rumah Selangorku units by the state government.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari expressed his concern about what has happened to the villagers close to the river reserve as some have not received compensation.
“The 12 individuals who came (to deliver the memorandum) are those who did not receive (compensation). The state government might therefore be able to provide Rumah Selangorku or a reasonably priced home.
“We have to look at the facts. The state government is also prepared to serve as a mediator between locals and representatives of the company so that this issue can be resolved accordingly,” he said when met after attending the Hari Raya open house organised by the Shah Alam parliament constituency, Batu Tiga and Kota Anggerik state constituencies at the MBSA Convention Centre, here today.
Amirudin also refuted the claims that the state government issued land grants to the villagers in the area due to the fact that it has been privately owned for the past 133 years.
“No (that the residents receive land in the river reserve)... There is a river reserve, we do have a policy (river reserve) that cannot be given except for flood mitigation projects.
“I'll look into the allegations. For your information, we've never approved (ownership) of river reserves,” he said.
Yesterday, the Hulu Selangor District and Land Office said the villagers’ claim that the Selangor state government had given river reserve land to a private company was untrue.
District land administrator Mohamad Hanafe Basri said that the river reserve for Sungai Serendah and the privately-owned land marked as Lot 4465 GRN 322912, where Kampung Koskan Tambahan houses are located, were two different sites.
He said investigations revealed that the land title ownership was granted 133 years ago on June 21, 1890.
On Thursday, a group of Kampung Koskan Tambahan villagers submitted a memorandum to Amirudin, which was received by assistant secretary of the Corporate Division of the State Secretariat Norbaini Zainuddin, after receiving an eviction notice before Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
