SHAH ALAM, March 24 — Some 500 students in the Sungai Ramal state constituency were provided with back-to-school aid vouchers at Kompleks PKNS in Bandar Baru Bangi on Saturday (March 18).
Its state assemblyman Mazwan Johar said asides from the RM100 vouchers, the students were also given school supplies, in cooperation with Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) councillors
"500 recipients received the aid vouchers and donations from MPKj councillors from Zones 16, 17, and 18, in the form of school bags, stationery sets, and books," he said in a Facebook post.
In addition, the Muslim students will also be provided with funding to open a Tabung Haji account for themselves.
"For this year, we are working together with Tabung Haji's Bangi branch to provide a RM10 incentive to the recipients, for the opening of Tabung Haji accounts.
"For those who already have existing accounts, the value will be contributed to their account, and we hope this will inculcate the culture of saving among the students," Mazwan said.
State investment arm Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI has allocated RM1.68 million for the Back-To-School programme this year.
