SHAH ALAM, Nov 11 — Pakatan Harapan’s parliamentary seat candidate for Kapar Datuk Abdullah Sani Abdul Hamid wades through floods to visit several victims whose houses were inundated yesterday.

Abdullah, who was on a campaign trail at Pulau Ketam abruptly ended his programme there and immediately went to Taman Sentosa, Taman Ria and Taman Alam Nyata to oversee the situation.

“Many victims asked about the assistance that they could get, to which I told them that any candidate and party are prohibited to hand over any assistance as it is not allowed by the Election Commission.

“Luckily the Selangor State Assembly has yet to be dissolved so the Meru Community Service Centre will help mobilise the assistance,” he said on Facebook, last night.

In a video posted on his Facebook, Abdullah said the flooding occurred due to clogged ditches and water overflowing from a bund in Baiduri into Kapar and its surrounding area.

Therefore, he reported the incident to the district officer and urged the Drainage and Irrigation Department to take immediate action.

“We cannot let this recur because we are facing the monsoon season. This is proof why we told them to not hold the elections. We want to focus on the people’s problems.

"This is what Umno leaders are hoping for. We, however, cannot accept that the people must suffer while the leaders are making themselves comfortable,” said the Parti Keadilan Rakyat leader.

Abdullah, along with Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari visited 32 flood-affected victims at the Sekolah Kebangsaan Sungai Binjai in Meru last night.
