Rajes already made preparations for Deepavali before unfortunate incident

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 21 — The late Petaling Jaya City (PJ City) FC right-back Rajes Perumal had already completed preparations for his family to celebrate the Deepavali festival scheduled for next Monday before he died.

His widow S. Komathy, 36, said the passing of her husband was deeply felt by the family and especially for the three young children R. Thivyaalini, 9, R. Pirutheswar, 7, and R. Kavee Nilavan, 12 months, celebrating the Deepavali festival without a father is going to be heartbreaking.

“My late husband had made preparations to celebrate Deepavali together but since he is no longer around, we will not be celebrating. I cannot imagine my children on the big day without their father.

"Rajes had done all the shopping including clothes, shoes for the children, me, his mother and grandmother as well as home furnishings before he left," she told Bernama while holding back tears when met at her residence in Batu Caves near here today.

Last Sunday, Rajes died in a motorcycle crash in Batu Muda after losing control and crashing onto the left shoulder of the road and hitting a tree.

Besides his wife and three children, the experienced player also leaves behind his mother G. Indrani Rajes, 61 and his grandmother P. Meenachi, 92, who lives with him at his residence.

Meanwhile, his brother P. Sarvanan, 40, shared that the deceased had already planned to celebrate Deepavali in his home before he died.

"As a brother, I am really sad to see the state of the deceased's family, it is okay for us as we are all grown-ups but it is sad for his children who are still young.

"Rajes had told me that he couldn't wait to celebrate together and invited me to play firecrackers at home with the children but now he won’t be around," he said tearfully.

Saravanan said that a week before his brother's departure, the deceased had seemed rather down because his contract with PJ City would end next year.

Rajes joined the PJ City squad for four years starting in 2018 before that had played for the PKNS FC squad in 2011 - 2013 followed by Selangor (2014), Kedah (2015) and returned to PKNS FC in 2016 - 2017.
