SHAH ALAM, Sept 2 — The state government has always prioritised public health to ensure Selangor’s people lead quality lives free of diseases, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said after the state government provided free vaccines and health screenings for Covid-19, the efforts continue with the Selangor Saring and Selangor Mental Sihat (Sehat) programmes.

Amirudin said Selangor Saring helps people with early detections of heart, kidney and cancer diseases, boosting public awareness on the importance of maintaining one’s health.

Similarly Sehat helps people to self-check their mental health levels and provides free access to various forms of early interventions.

"Sehat programme increases awareness on the importance of mental health care and aims to reduce negative stigma.

"These two initiatives are the first steps for the state towards pioneering healthy quality living. As the data on the percentage of harmful health cases including suicide is very worrying," he said in a Facebook post earlier today.

The state government has allocated RM3.4 million to realise Selangor Saring, which is expected to benefit up to 39,000 residents with a history of hereditary ailments, obese individuals, or those leading unhealthy lifestyles.

In addition to detecting breast cancer, the programme, which runs until September 4 also offers physical screenings, blood and urine tests, eyes, cervical, occult stool or colorectal tests, as well as prostate tests.

Sehat was developed with a RM500,000 allocation, and both initiatives can be accessed through the SeLangkah app.
