GOMBAK, Aug 31 — The Insurans Hayat Selangor (Insan) insurance scheme that will protect six million Selangor residents is proof that the state government is concerned about the fate of its people.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari believed this will put Selangor as the first state in Malaysia to provide insurance protection schemes to its residents regardless of their background.

"I think this (Selangor) government is the first government in Malaysia that is able to provide protection for the lives of its people.

"If there is an accident, death, or loss of the five senses, they will receive payment from contributions that have already been paid for," he said at the Jasamu Dikenang programme in conjunction with the National Day celebration in Mukim Batu here, today.

Earlier, Amirudin along with his wife Datin Seri Masdiana Muhamad had attended several other programmes to celebrate the 65th National Day and visited retired servicemen during the motorcycle convoy ride in Gombak.

Yesterday, he announced that up to six million Selangor residents will be offered the life insurance scheme, with the premium fully borne by the state government.

Through Insan, each covered individual will receive an RM10,000 payout for death, accident and injury according to type.

The initiative offers lifetime protection for all people in Selangor, aged from 30 days to 80 years old, who meet either one of the two conditions which are, that they are born in Selangor or a voter in Selangor.

Registration for the insurance scheme with an estimated total protection value of RM60 billion will be opened on October 1, 2022.
