SHAH ALAM, June 29 — The Selangor State Sports Council (MSNS) has invited youths in the state to join the Selangor Volunteers (SERVE) Rescue squad which was set up to assist the authorities in the event of a disaster.
MSNS in a post on Facebook informed that the special team aims to speed up relief operations during disasters and act as a first responder when the incident occurred.
“Training, facilities and training venues are provided by the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba).
"The advantage of joining is that you will get a duty allowance, insurance coverage, training and courses by Selangor Bomba, as well as first responder equipment and free membership," said MSNS.
Among the requirements are the applicants must be Malaysian citizens, aged between 18 and 45 years old, physically fit with no physical disabilities, able to read and write, and interested in carrying out volunteer work and community activities.

Previously, SERVE Rescue was known as Serve Elite and the state government had allocated RM100,000 to form the squad.
So far, 100 out of 300 SERVE members have been listed in the SERVE Rescue squad after passing the screening conducted by MSNS.
