PORT KLANG, March 5 — The Selangor government has allocated a total of RM1 million to build and upgrade the homes and facilities in the Orang Asli villages in the state.
State executive councillor for Orang Asli affairs Hee Loy Sian said the details on the homes and facilities that require attention would be provided by the Orang Asli Development Department (Jakoa).
“We provide funds for the comfort of the Orang Asli community. Therefore, we will get Jakoa’s feedback on houses that need to be repaired or built.
“This is not limited to only houses as we will also look at facilities, such as jetties that needs repair works. We will first gather the information before refining the cost of expenses,” he told SelangorKini when met after distributing food baskets to the community at Kampung Orang Asli Sungai Dua in Pulau Ketam here, yesterday.
When asked on the expected date when the project would commence, Hee said it would be executed the soonest possible once they obtained the complete information.
On November 26 last year, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari had in the 2022 Selangor Budget announced the allocation for the Orang Asli community.
He said the funds would focus on building, repairing and upgrading the homes in the Orang Asli villages.
