Seldec sees stimulating rise in registrations and applicants

By Zareef Muzammil

SHAH ALAM, Oct 20 — Approximately 1,100 small and micro traders have joined the Selangor Digital E-Supply Chain (Seldec) programme from June 20 last year until October 15 this year.

The encouraging figures is notable as most of the new registrations hail from among entrepeneurs in urban areas, said Seldec's business development chief manager.

Noraziziah Abdullah explained the increase in participants is also motivated by the programme's cooperation with delivery companies like Line Clear Express, Logistika, and Pos Laju.

"God be praised, there is strong response with increasing registrations every day. We do not make deliveries in Selangor alone, since some customers select us as the items they order are not available in their own state," she said when contacted.

Noraziziah added that Seldec will add new product sales categories in the nearest future, encompassing fashion and home furniture, in conjuction with Bazar Lokal.

"However, for the time being we are still focusing on wet products, alongside frozen and ready-to-eat goods," she said.

On October 2019, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari announced the launch of Seldec, aimed at aiding traders to increase their revenues via online sales.
