INSKEN allocates RM89m to strengthen entrepreneurs' digitalisation

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 24 — The National Institute of Entrepreneurship (INSKEN) has allocated RM89 million for the implementation of the INSKEN Individual Training and Guidance (Bangkit) Programme to strengthen the digitalisation of entrepreneurs.

Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development Deputy Minister Datuk Mohamad Alamin said the programme, based on the mentor-mentee concept, aims to enhance digital literacy and expedite business transformation among entrepreneurs, especially in e-commerce.

"We will provide them with a series of courses, seminars and workshops to enhance digital literacy. The programme's effectiveness has been proven when the entrepreneurs’ sales revenue soared after being exposed to digitalisation through this e-commerce programme,” he said during the question-and-answer session in the Dewan Rakyat today.

Mohamad was replying to Batang Sadong MP Rodiyah Sapiee's supplementary query on INSKEN's role in improving entrepreneurs’ development, particularly in the aspect of digitalisation and expansion of the Biaya Ramadan dan Perniagaan Rakyat (BARAKAT) scheme.

He added that as of Sunday (February 22), 2,204 entrepreneur applications nationwide had been approved, involving financing of RM29.9 million.

In addition, 500 more applications, involving financing of nearly RM5 million, are being processed and expected to be approved soon.

Replying to Sungai Besar MP Datuk Muslimin Yahaya's supplementary query on assurances on Bumiputera economic control, Mohamad said their involvement in the entrepreneurship sector, particularly the micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSME), would continue to be strengthened through various digitalisation programmes, including the MyMail platform that has generated almost RM30 million in sales revenue thus far.

Through the implementation of development plans, including the Bumiputera Economic Transformation Plan 2035 (PuTERA35), the ministry would continue to ensure the rights and interests of Bumiputera entrepreneurs remain guaranteed.

Regarding Muslimin's original question on empowering Bumiputera entrepreneurs and MSMEs in terms of innovation and digitalisation, the deputy minister said they will continue to drive these efforts through an integrated approach, in tandem with the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) and PuTERA35.
