No Malaysians affected by unrest in Mexico

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 23 — The Foreign Ministry (Wisma Putra) has confirmed that no Malaysian nationals have been affected by the unrest in several states across Mexico following a recent security operation by local authorities.

It is closely monitoring the wave of violence occurring in several states in the country, including Jalisco, Colima, Michoacán, Nayarit, Guanajuato, and Tamaulipas, through the Embassy of Malaysia in Mexico City.

“The ministry wishes to confirm that, as of the latest reports, no Malaysian nationals have been affected by the unrest.

“Malaysians residing in or travelling to Mexico are advised to remain vigilant, avoid public gatherings, and strictly follow the safety instructions issued by local authorities,” Wisma Putra said in an advisory today.

It also strongly encouraged Malaysians to register their presence via E-Konsular to facilitate timely communication and assistance.

For consular assistance, Malaysians may contact the embassy at +52 55 5282 4656 / +52 55 5282 5166, or via email at mwmexico@kln.gov.my / mex.receptionist@kln.gov.my.

Wisma Putra added that it will continue to monitor developments closely and provide updates as necessary.
